Accident :
1. an unpleasant event, especially in a vehicle, that happens unexpectedly and causes injury or damage (사고)
우리말로는 사고 그 자체다. 주로 자동차와 관련된 예상치 않은 반갑지 않은 일로써 다치거나 부서지거나 하는 일이 생긴다. 행글라이딩이나 비행기 혹은 배 혹은 일을 하다가 혹은 놀다가도 accident 가 일어 날수 있다.
2. something that happens unexpectedly and is not planned in advance.
미리 계획하지 않은 예상치 못한 일 . (우연, 우연한일)

It is no accident that men fill most of the top jobs in nursing.
숙어>
accidents will happen : 사고를 당한 사람에게 (예를 들어 무엇을 깨었다던지,,) "accidents will happen" 이라고 말하는 것은 It doesn't matter - 별것 아니다.
they should not worry 걱정할 필요없다. 라고 말하는 것이다.

Incident :
1. something that happens, especially something unusual or unpleasant .
특히 별나거나 불쾌한 발생하는 일(사건,일어난일)
우리말로는 사건이라고는 하지만 좀더 뜻이 많은 것 같다.

His bad behaviour was just an isolated incident.
그의 무례한 행동은 그저 유별난 것이었을 뿐이다
One particular incident sticks in my mind.
하나의 특별한 사건(일)이 내 맘속에 틀어 박혔다.
2. a serious or violent event, such as a crime , an accident or an attack.
사건 , 어떤 사람들 간의 충돌, 싸움.

3. a disagreement between two countries, often involving military forces
국가간의 충돌 이라고 해야하나 영자 신문이나 뉴스에서 볼수있을 것이다. 서해안 교전 같은것도 incident 이다. (사건, 사변, 분쟁, 충돌)
