① 일반적인 사실을 진술하는 문장 뒤에 예외라는 것을 나타내기 위해 except나 except for를 쓴다. all, every no, everything, anything, anybody, nowhere, whole 등의 단어가 온 문장 뒤에 자주 쓰인다.
He ate everything on his plate except (for) the beans.
He ate the whole meal, except (for) the beans.

Generally, if something rises it moves upwards. If you rise, this is a rather formal way of saying that you get of out bed, get up or stand up:(일반적으로 어떤것이 rise한다고 할때 그것은 위로 움직이는것이며, 당신이 rise한다면 이것은 다소 formal한 말로 당신이 기상하거나 일어서는 것입니다.)

arise is mainly used in a more abstract way. If a situation or problem or something arises, it comes into being and people become aware of it:(arise는 주로 추상적인 상식으로 사용되는데 만약 상황이나 문제, 또는 어떤것이 arise한다면 그것이 존재하게되고 사람이 그것을 알게될때 입니다.)

If you are in agreement with what Mr Jenkins has put to you, would you please raise your hand.
The flag on the roof of the palace is raised whenever the queen is in residence.
Amy was sitting at the back and had to raise her voice in order to be heard.

This drug effects a sound sleep.
한편 affect = have an effect on 이 되는데 이때 effect 는 명사로서 " 원인 작용의 결과, 영향" 의 의미로서 have an effect on 은 ...
Cares affect the health. = Cares have an effect on the health.
Cold weather affected everybody's work. = Cold weather has an effect on everybody's work.

The dog ran after the rabbit 전치사
It started to rain soon after 부사
I arrived after he left
1.Look at the picture 여기서 at은 명사 the picture앞에서 명사의 의미를 더 하지요.
2. Put on the coats 두어라(put) 접해서 코트를
Look at the picture (O)전치사 타 Put on your coat (O) 부사
Look the picture at (X) Put your coat on (O)
Look at it (O) Put on it (X)
Look it at (X) Put it on (O)
write (it) down (쓰다, 적다) give (it) up (포기하다)
pick (it) up (줍다, 도중에서 태우다) put (it) off (=postpone) 연기하다
put (it) on (입다, 쓰다) take (it) off (옷, 모자 등을 벗다)
turn (it) on / off (불을 켜다 / 끄다) send (it) back (돌려 보내다)

I would take care of my little brother when my parents went out in the evenings.
Peter said he [will / would] have pancakes for breakfast.
Peter said he would have pancakes for breakfast.
Peter says he will have pancakes for breakfast.
Peter thought that if he [eats / ate] pancakes, he[will / would] need maple syrup.
Peter thought that if he ate pancakes, he would need maple syrup.
Peter thinks that if he eats pancakes, he will need maple syrup.
Would you like some coffee?
I’d like something to drink.( 뭐 마실 것 좀 주세요.)
