1. focus on
You know, Jake, very often when we have these verb phrases,
we have a variety of prepositions to use, in, with, up, down, on.
However the word 'focus' is rather limited. Focus on something
you pay attention, strictly pay attention and you try your best
to do something.
▶ 종종 이러한 동사구를 볼 때 다양한 전치사와 사용되는 것을 안다.
in, with, up, down, on 같은 전치사 말이다. 그런데 focus는
좀 제한적으로 쓰인다. focus on은 주의를 기울이는 것이고,
매우 집중하는 것이고 최선을 다해 무엇을 하는 것이다.
2. come down on
Wow, yeah, to come down on someone, come down on something.

to do very well at all. To get by means just barely surviving
to not fail. How? Well, get by on something tells us how you survive.
Get by on a little money, get by on a little food, get by on something.
▶ get by는 살아간다는 뜻이다. 성공이나 매우 잘 하는 것을 뜻하지 않는다.
get by의 뜻은 간신히 살아가고 실패하는 것도 아니다.
get by on은 어떻게 살아가는 지를 말해주는데 적은 돈으로,
적은 음식으로, 또는 어떤 것으로 그럭저럭 살아가는 것을 뜻한다.
