선행사인 the time, the place, the reason, the way 등은 생략이 가능하며 관계부사의 선행사가 특정한 때, 특정한 장소를 나타낼 때는 생략할 수 없다.
I know when he will come back. (the time 생략가능)
This is the hill, where we enjoyed ourselves. (hill은 구체적 장소이므로 생략할 수 없다.)
