영어공부를 위해서는 input이 중요합니다. 영어를 듣고 또 듣는다. 영어를 잘하기 위해서는 매일 상당한 양의 소리로 된 영어를 들어야한다. 우리가 모국어인 한국어를 유창하게 사용하는 이유는 태어나기 전부터 어머니를 비롯한 많은 이들의 소리를 들었으며 말을 한 두 마디하기 시작할 무렵까지 이루 헤아릴 수 없는 반복과 새로운 음성 정보에 노출되었다는 것이다. 때론 그 의미가 무엇인지도 모른 채 말입니다. 이런 면에서 볼때 굿모닝팝스는 영어의 input이라는 면을 충분히 만족시켜줍니다.
아마도 영어 공부라는 것은 모국어로 하지 않는 이상 우리에게는 가장 큰 스트레스가 아닐까 생각해 봅니다. 영어를 웬만큼하는 사람도 스트레스 받는 것은 마찬가지이고, 초보자들도 스트레스 받는 것은 당연한 것이라 느껴지는 것이 현실이니까요..

요즘 종종 영어 공부에 대한 말들을 듣습니다 (학교 이외 다른 곳에서도). 근데, 딱히 정답이 없는 것이 영어 공부 (또는 외국어 공부)가 아닌가 생각해 봅니다. 더구나, 성인이 되어서는 더 힘든게 사실이죠.

영어는 모국어가 아닌 이상, 완벽하게 할 수는 없습니다. 그래서 자신감으로 승부를 해야 발전이 있습니다. 실수는 어찌 보면 당연한 것이구요. 또한 그 실수를 통해 배우는 영어가 더 오래간다는 사실.

굿모닝팝스의 장점은 부담없는 진행과 내용입니다. 진행자 이근철씨의 철학 중 하나는 3개중 하나만 익히라고 강조합니다. 그러다 보면 3개를 다 익히게 된다는 것인데 그것은 아마도 부담없이 꾸준히 계속하라는 말인것 같습니다.

굿모닝팝스의 방송 형태는

1, Good Morning News – 고급자 대상
2. Screen English – 중급자 대상
3. Pops English – 초, 중급자 대상
4. Talk Play Learn – 전체
5. Sound Sound Play – 전체
6. Learn More – 전체
7. Review

7 가지로 구성되어 있습니다. 1번의 경우는 초보자에게는 어려운 부분일 겁니다. 실제 뉴스 일부분을 청취 하는 것으로 listening 공부하는데 도움이 되거든요. 여기서 중요한 것은 청취하면서 받아 쓸수 있는 정도가 되어야 한다는 거. 이것은 시간과 노력이 있으면 가능합니다. 물론 처음에는 어려우니까 부담없이 들으면서 적응해 나가는 것도 하나의 방법입니다.

Screen English는 매월 영화 한편을 선정해서 대화내용을 듣고, 이해 하고, 좋은 표현은 따라해 보는 것으로 구성이 되어 있는데, 한달 후, 그 영화를 자막없이 볼 수 있는 것을 목표로 합니다. 실제 가능 합니다.

Pops English는 팝송을 정해서 음악을 듣고 가사를 풀이해보는 형식이고, Talk Play Learn은 일상회화의 문장을 하루에 하나씩 배워 가는 것입니다. Sound Sound Play는 연음등등의 발음을 어떻게 하는지 알려주고 있으며, 마지막으로 Learn More 은 흔희 말하는 슬랭을 배워보는 시간이죠. 그리고 항상 마무리는 그날의 내용을 한번더 리뷰를 해준다는거.

월 요일에서 금요일까지는 위와 같은 형식으로 방송이 진행되고, 토요일은 1번을 하고나서 그주의 TalkPlayLearn과 Sound Play를 리뷰해주고, 일요일에서는 그 주에 배웠던 Good Morning News 를 리뷰해 줍니다. 일종의 무한 반복학습 효과를 기대 하는 것이죠.

그러면 매번 방송 시간 (아침 6시-7시)에 생방으로 들어야 되느냐… 물론 가능하다면 그것도 좋지만, 요즘 같은 IT 시대에 MP3 활용하는 것이 아주 좋겠죠. 저도 MP3 를 활용합니다.

처 음에는 단팟이라는 팟케스트 어플 (KBS 에서 제공하는 것)을 통해 다운이 가능했는데, 아마도 외주 업체이다 보니 정책이 변경이 되어서 단팟에서는 더이상 받아 볼수 없을 것입니다. 하지만 우리가 누굽니까… 한국 사람은 대단하죠… 굿모닝팝스를 사랑하는 청취자 한분이 개인 홈페이지에서도 받아 볼수 있게 해 놨습니다. 물론 공식 사이트에서도 게시판을 통해 다운이 가능 합니다. 공식 게시판에서 다운 받을려면 로그인을 해야 하는 단점이 있기는 합니다.

제가 추천해 드리고 싶은 것은 매일 방송분을 MP3로 받아서 음악 듣는 것 처럼, 이동시에 부담없이 일단 청취해 보는 것이 중요합니다. 그렇게 해서 적응이 되면 GMP 듣는 것이 한결 쉬워 질것 입니다.

 영어를 공부함에 있어서 가장 중요한 것은 자기 자신에 대한 믿음입니다. 올바른 방법으로 꾸준한 노력을 기울이면 무엇이든 잘하게 된다는 단순한 사실에 대한 믿음, 그리고 그 사실이 우리 자신에게도 해당이 된다는 신념을 갖고 있다면 무엇이든 이루지 못할 것이 없다.


 그리고 미래에 대한 명확한 목표를 가진 사람은 쉽게 포기하지 않는다. 자신의 꿈을 이루기 위해 영어의 숙달이 필요하다면 노력을 게을리 하지 말 것이며 절대로 도중하차를 하지말기 바란다. 처음부터 안 된다고 믿고 시작하는 일이 성취되는 경우는 극히 드물다. 하루 도 거르지 말고 되뇌어 보라 "나는 영어를 잘할 수 있다". 여러분이 이 사실을 믿지 않는다면 그 누구도 이것을 믿어줄 사람은 없다.

자신감을 가지고 꾸준히 공부한다면 꼭 소기의 성과를 이룰 수 있을 것입니다.

1. fly back
Well, you know, this is very good for Jake, in fact, because Jake was able to get on
an airplane and fly away. And then after a while he was able to return in fact.

2. holler back

I would like to thank right now over the radio our very good friend 길동,
because, you know, he is a gentleman, he is such a good guy. While I was visiting
his neighborhood, he was able to escort me back around to the restaurant where we
first met 10 years ago. He was able to escort me back to my hotel because I couldn't

John's Recap

I was very lucky to spend some time talking with 민희. She told me a very interesting story
길동 had disappered. One day, two day, five.. it's a week. So she decided to hunt down
길동. She went to all of his regular spots and couldn't find him anywhere.
She was so tired after searching all day. She got home to her apartment.
She was trying to get into. She almost fell down. She almost fell down, 'cause she was
so tired. So she finally got in the house and she brushed her teeth and washed her face.
She decided to lie down and just get some rest. Next day, she will begin searching again.
I know where he is. 길동 is in Jake's house.

Hey Jake, I've got kind of a scandal as rumor to spread.

The other day, 민희 came home early from work and she caught

He was scared and hiding in the corner. I was there.

제이크, 요즘 떠도는 전설(?)이 하나 있는데 너한테 처음으로 얘기 하는거야.
얼마전 민희는 집에서 몰래 담배 피던 길동이를 일찍 퇴근하게 되는
바람에 보게 되었어. 화가 잔뜩 났어. 신발이며 책이며 TV, 냉장고 등
손에 잡히는 건 다 길동이 한테 던졌어. 길동인 무서워서 구석으로
숨었어. 때마침 나도 그때 있었는데 민희에게 말하길

한장 가득 리스트를 적고나니 화가 누그러진 모습이었어.
상황은 종료됐고 길동인 다행히 살아남았어(?)
그러고는 길동인 그길로 문을 박차고 나가 3일동안 돌아오지 않았어.
