Get off: to remove yourself from some topic, from subject

You know, many years ago when 길동 and I were roommates. I did all the cooking, not because he did like cooking, but because his cooking tasted terrible. So I cooked everyday. His job was to clean off the table and prepare for all the meals. Ah, it became a source of arguement. Everyday we argued about the same issue.
Finally I said, "Look look look I'll cook, you'll clean. Let's get off the subject. Let's please talk about something else." Oh, he got upset. He started bouncing off the walls and complaining about so many things it.
Oh, finally we just decided. We each cooked for ourselves. Yeah, I gained. He lost 15kg.

알다시피 오래 전 길동이와 나는 룸메이트였어. 녀석의 음식솜씨가 형편 없었고 요리하는 것도 별로 좋아하지 않는지라. 맨날천날 내가 내가 요리를 했어. 아무리 서빙으로 밥벌이를 해도 그렇지 말야. 그러다 보니 우린 각자의 식사때의 역할 때문에 매일같이 싸웠어. 결국 내가 "야~ 누구는 맨날 요리하고 누구는 맨날 치우기만 치우고 불공평하지 않냐? 그러니까 다시 합의보자."라고 하니까 화를 버럭 내더니 제딴에 그간 품고 있던 되지도 않는 불만들을 막 늘어놓기 시작했어. 우린 직접 자기 밥은 자기가 해 먹기로 합의를 봤어. 그러고 나니 난 살이 점점 오르고 녀석은 피골이 상접하게 되었어.

얼마 전 길동이와 난 엘리베이터를 탔는데 거기엔 큰 거울이 하나 있었어. 그 엘리베이터에 타자마자 길동인 몸매자랑을 하려는 것 같더라구. “우~” 내 근육도 점점 들썩이기 시작했어. 드디어 그는 근육을 드러내며 과시하기 시작했어. 마치 자기가 보디빌더 인 양 말야. 나도 괜찮아 보여서 따라했어. 둘이서 똑같이 그짓을 하면서 말야. 길동이가 나랑 친해졌다고 생각할는지는 모르지만 난 별로 내키지가 않아.

To pull out. Well, let's think about this for a moment. A car or a truck is very very heavy.

It's difficult to move. The word 'pull' really does imply that something takes

strenghth and power. To pull out then when referring to driving means to

begin moving that heavy car, get it going up to speed, join the flow of traffice,

start moving.

2. duck out

Ah, duck well we know what a duck is. Ducks are very delicious of course.

However duck as a verb means to lower your head. You can imagine that

if you're very tall you need to go through a small doorway, you'll have to

duck your head, duck your body. Then to duck out means to kind of quietly.

Maybe even sneaking a little bit to go out quickly and quietly.

3. stay out

Well, we know the word 'stay' means to maintain or remain or continue.

So to stay out then simply don't go in, sty out, spend a lot of time outside.

I can tell you someone who has one glass as whole life he can be a very difficult thing. I guess he can always look on the bright side.

Europe has some of the most congested air space in the world and it’s never seen a disruption like this. Flights in and out of several countries including Britain are grounded.

Russia’s foreign minister called today for a ban on all adoptions by American families. The move comes after a woman who adopted a Russian boy changed her mind and sent him back all by himself.

To straighten out means to actually solve a problem.

Ah, will you know as a noun the word point indicates a very sharp edge.
However as a verb to point or to point out means to indicate to show or
to tell someone maybe even a direction.

2. check out
Uhm.. Again this is one of those expressions with many meanings.
We know that you may check out of a hotel or check out of a hospital.
This is a little bit different. This check out means to examine, look at something.
I might be excited and say "Hey, check out that movie, check out that car."
Look at it.

3. look out
Yeah, to look out, well sometimes you might hear this in very surpringly, "Look out~" meaning "Be careful, danger." to pay attention to what's going on. Sometimes I might mot be so excited and just say
"Uh-oh, be careful. Look out for cloudy weather. Look out for speeding cars."

Oh, my. Well if we can imagine that the top is the best, then we can understand

Jake, recently I got some economic advice from our very good friend 홍길동 and he told me that he had invested money in the stock market,
but most of the companies he invested in bottomed out. Oh very disappointing.
He lost a lot of money he was gonna cross out a lot of those companies from his portfolio but then he decided "No no no. It's a bad time to back out.
Wait, wait and wait. And some day those companies might recover and he might recover his money so even though things bottomed out he's waiting. Hopefully things will be okay.

freak out:기겁하다, 엄청나게 당황하다, sell out:매진되다 drown out:~보다 더 시끄럽다.

1. black out : 의식을 잃다, 기절하다 (faint)
    I'll black out if I ride the roller coaster.
    난 롤러코스터를 타면 기절하고 말거야.
    cf) brown out: (일부지역만) 전력이 나가다. a blackout: 등화관제 or 정전
2. cop out : 꽁무니를 빼다, 발뺌하다. (make a false excuse in order to avoid)

    = chicken out, back out
3. reach out : 손을 뻗다, 도움을 주다 (help, offer to assist)

1. black out
Yeah, black out. What happens when you close your eyes?
What do you see? Uh-oh I see movie stars. Most people see nothing because it's very dark. When you fall asleep or you faint or whatever. You no longer see anything. You black out.

2. cop out
Well now if you're looking your dictionary, you see C O P isn't that a nickname for a policeman. Yes, indeed. As a verb cop out means to find some excuse not to do something. We've already learned the expression 'chicken out' being afraid. Cop out isn't an expression. It might even be an lie. It's just not true. Just an excuse not to do something.

3. reach out
Yeah, be very careful. Very long /i:/ sound here, reach. To reach out is to make contact with someone, perhaps for a reason, perhaps you're seeking help or you're trying to help someone else. Either way you're making a connection person to person, reach out.

Uh, you know over the last weekend 길동 and I went to a party together. Well as the night went on, 길동 drank a little bit too much. Pretty soon he was sitting in the corner with his eyes closed. It turned out he blacked out of course. He doesn't remember much that eating. He's a little embarrassed. I asked him "Do you wanna go to another party next weekend?" Suddenly he said, "Uh another party? No. Saturday night? 10 oclock? I have an dentist appointment."
Ah, ha ha ha I told him, "Don't cop out. If you're afraid to go to anther party, just reach out to me. I'll go with you." So we'll see what happens this weekend.
