If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

만약 아직도 미국이 모든것이 가능한 나라라는데 의심을 가지고 있는 사람들이 있다면, 미국의 건국자들의 꿈이 아직도 이 시대에 살아 있는지 궁금해 하는 사람들이 있다면, 그리고 민주주의의 힘을 의심하는 사람이 있다면. 오늘이 바로 당신의 의심에 대한 답입니다.

It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different, that their voices could be that difference.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, “We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection.” And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn – I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.

제 가족은 부모님과 3명의 누나와 저를 포함해서 총 6명입니다. 두 누나는 벌써 결혼을 하셨습니다. 그 후로 부모님과 또 다른 누나와 저를 포함해서 4명이 남았습니다. 저는 부산에서 태어났고, 현재에도 거기에 살고 있습니다.

My hobby is watching movies, and playing squash. There are six members in my family. They are my parents, three elder sisters and myself. Two elder sisters got married already. Since then I have lived with  parents, another elder sister. I was born in Busan and still live  there.


저희 가족은 교도소에 근무하시는 엄하신 아버지와 평범한 가정주부이신 어머니 나 동생 이렇게 4식구가 모여 삽니다.

There are five members in my family. My father who works for a correctional institution is strict with us, and my mother is a housewife.

Geobukseon is a battleship engineered by a cientist at the order of Admiral Yi Sun-sin of the Joseon Dynasty, Korea's most-revered hero. While Koreans today generally only wear authentic hanbok on special occasions such as weddings and traditional holidays, modern variations like Saenghwal hanbok that have been tailored to fit modern lifestyles are sometimes seen in everyday life.

온돌(Ondol: Korea underfloor heating system)

Ondol is a uniquely Korean heating system that can be traced back to the ancient kingdom of Goguryeo. Unlike Western heaters that generally warm the air, ondol heats the floor of a room. Invented by ancient Koreans, the original system worked by heating a large stone under a living space: Smoke from a fire just outside the dwelling was forced under the stone and exited on the other side. The system survives today in modern houses and apartments where water heated in gas or electric boilers is circulated through pipes encased in cement floors.

현재 부모님과 함께 살고 있습니다. 1남 2녀 중 막내이고 언니와 오빠가 있습니다. 아버지는 사업을 하시고, 어머니는 집안일을 하십니다. 요즘 손을 다치셔서 고생이 심하십니다. 그래서 걱정입니다.

I'm living with my parents. I have an older brother and an older sister. My father runs his own business and my mother is a housewife. But she suffers terribly with her hand wounded these days. So, I am concerned about that.

I will tell you about Korean Language, Hangeul. We, Koreans use our own alphabet, Hangeul. Hangeul was invented under the great king Sejong. King Sejong was the fourth ruler of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea from 1419-1450. His reign was a period of great cultural and intellectual accomplishment in Korea. Why did he decide to invent New alphabet? In that time, many people were illiterate except noblesse. Because the Chinese letters or Idu is difficult for common people to learn. King Sejong had a pity on his people so, he direct scholars to invent new letter. It is an surprise idea in that time that a ruler invent new letters for his nations. When Hangeul was first invented, it was called Hunminjeongeum. Hunminjeongeum means the proper sounds to instruct the people. Is it great?Original Hangeul consisted of 28 letters but today we use 24 letters, 14 consonants and 10 vowels, without the four letters. Hangeul is easy to learn so, the illiteracy rate of Korean is almost 0%. If you want to learn Hangeul, i am willing to teach it.

Do you know Kimchi? If you don't know Kimchi well, I'll introduce about Kimchi. Basically Kimchi is made of korean cabbage, red paper, garlic and other vegetables. But there are more than 160 Kimchi varieties differentiated by region and ingredients. Kimchi is an indispensable food for Koreans throughout the four season.Korean people eat Kimchi at every meal.In the past, people can’t have vegetables enough during winter so, Korean ancestors prepared a lot of Kimchi in fall for winter. So, they can ingest nourishments like vitamins in winter. I think they are very wise people. [주재료] Main ingredients

10 Korean cabbages; 4 cups of generous amount of coarse salt ; 4 Korean radishes; 5 large green onions; 1/2 package of thin spring green onions; 1/2 package of Korean parsley; 1/2 package of 'gus' (green with mustard flavor); about 3 cups medium ground dried red peppers; 50 gm. mashed garlic; 25gm. mashed ginger;1 cup salted fermented shrimps; 1 cup 'whangsuk' ( type of fermented fish) for fish sauce; 1 cup oysters;
3 tbsp. sugar; 1 med. onion; 1 white of an egg; small portion of fine salt.

배추10포기, 굵은소금4컵이상, 무4개, 대파5뿌리, 실파1/2단, 미나리1/2단, 갓1/2단 양념 고춧가루3컵정도, 다진마늘50g, 다진생강25g,
새우젓1컵,황석어젓1컵, 굴1컵, 설탕3큰술정도,
양파1개, 달걀흰자1개분, 소금약간

[조리법] Instruction

1. Remove the dirt and the outer layer of the cabbages. Remove the straggly parts.

2. Cut bottom portion of the body of each cabbage with a knife and separate it in half with your hands.

3. Large cabbages should be halved and smaller ones should be quartered.

4. Fill a large tub with water and add some course salt to make brine.

5. Rinse out the cabbages in the brine.

6. Sprinkle course salt in between the cabbage leaves and let them sit for about six hours.

7. Shake the salt out by rinsing the cabbages in water.

8. Drain out the water from the cabbages by stacking them on a wicker tray.

9. Prepare radish, large onions, Korean parsley, 'gus', garlic and ginger.

10. Shred radishes, grind garlic and ginger. 'Gus', K. parsley, large green onions and thin spring green onions are cut to 5 cm. lengths.

11. Preparation of fish sauce:

Mash the ' whang suk" fish. remove the flesh part to another dish.

12. Pour water to the bones and the head and boil the content.

13. Whip the white of an egg. Finely shred the onion.

14. Mix the egg and the onion and add it to the slowly boiling mixture. This is to make the sauce clear. Cool the sauce. The whitened curdle and the onion will be removed afterwards.

15. When there is a clear portion in the sauce, sieve it through gauze.

{Re: note 11-15 * Now for those people who don't know or care to know about this fish or the sauce, one cup of the regular fish sauce from the market will do the trick. Well, traditional grandmoms probably will kill me for saying this.}

16. Finely mash up the fermented shrimps.

17. Clean the oysters well in salt water.

18. Add water to the dried red pepper powder to wet it.

19. Add and mix the shreded radish to the red pepper mix to redden it.

20. Add and mix in the garlic, ginger, onions and the other vegetables to the above. This will create the stuffing for later.

21. Mix in the fermented shrimps; fish and the sauce; oysters; fine salt and sugar to taste.

22. Stuff the cabbage leaves with the above stuffing. Take care to put a little of the stuffing evenly onto each leaf.

23. Cover each cabbage halves or quarters with an extra leaf and stack the bunch into a jar. Wait until nicely fermented in a cold (refrigerated one week to several weeks) temperature.
조리법
1. 배추는 흙을 털고 겉잎을 떼고 다듬는다.
2다듬은 배추는 밑둥에서부터 반 정도까지만 칼집을 넣어 손으로 쪼갠다
3. 큰 배추는 4등분 작은 배추는 2등분으로 쪼갠다.
4. 큰 양푼에 물을 담고 소금을 넣어 소금물을 만든다.
5. 소금물에 자른 배추를 담갔다가 꺼낸다.
6. 소금물에 적신 배추에 소금을 골고루 뿌려 6시간 정도 절인다.
7. 절인 배추는 물에 흔들어 씻어 건진다.
8. 씻은 배추는 채반에 엎어서 물기를 뺀다.
9.무, 대파, 실파, 미나리, 갓, 마늘, 생강은 손질하여 준비한다
10. 무는 일정하게 채썰고, 마늘과 생강은 다져서 준비한다. 갓, 미나
리, 대파, 실파는 5cm 길이로 썬다.
11. 황석어젓은 살만 저며 내다.
12. 황석어 젓의 뼈, 머리는 물을 붓고 끊인다.
13. 달걀 흰자는 거품을 내고, 양파는 곱게 채썬다.
14. 흰자와 양파를 섞어 12)의 끓이는 황석어젓에 넣고 중불에서 은근
히 끓인다. 젓국물을 맑게 하기 위함이다.
흰자덩어리와 양파는 건져내면 된다.
15. 맑은 색이 나오면 거즈에 내린다.

17. 굴은 소금물에 흔들어 씻어 깨끗! 이 손질한다.
18. 고춧가루에 물을 부어 불린다.

20. 무채에 다진마늘, 다진생강, 대파, 실파, 미나리, 갓을 넣고 버무
려 속을 만든다.
21. 새우건지, 황석어살, 황석어 국물, 굴, 소금, 설탕을 넣고 최종
으로 간을 한다.
22. 절인 배추에 만든 속을 배춧잎 갈피마다 넣는다.
23. 양념소를 넣은 배추를 겉잎으로 감싸 항아리에 담는다.
김치는 먹을 만큼만 그때그때 꺼내서 먹도록 하고, 꺼낸 후에는
꼭꼭 눌러 담아 둔다.

[보관 방법]

When the kimchie is well fermented or ready to eat, and after each kimchie section is taken out, one should take care to press down the remaining bunch in the jar. Kimchie is kept cold, nowadays of course, in the fridge.

[참고] Extra note

When the kimchie is to be kept for a long period, one should make it saltier and one shouldn't add too much fermented fish and shrimps.
오래 둘 김치는 짭짤하게 하며 젓갈이나 생굴을 많이 넣지 마세요.

항상 최선을 다하자는 가훈아래 1남 3녀 중 둘째로 태어났습니다.

Under our family motto of ‘Do Your Best’, I was born the second oldest of one brother and three sisters.


저는 OOO 입니다. 저는 가족이 아빠, 엄마, 나, 동생 그리고 그렇게 4명입니다. 저희 가족은 항상 화목하고 친구 같습니다. 그래서 저는 이런 가족이 있다는 것에 항상 행복합니다.

I am OOO. There are four in my family, they are my father, mother and my younger brother (or sister) and myself. My family members are very friendly and like my friends. So I am proud of my family and am happy with them.


저는 19OO년 인천에서 태어났습니다. 화목한 가정에서 "정직하게 살자" 라는 가훈아래 자란 저는 항상 밝고 긍정적으로 생활하고 있습니다.

I was born in Incheon in 19OO. Since I was grown up in a very united family with family's motto "be honesty", I have a bright and positive character.

'Personal History(Resume) of Kil Dong Hong'식으로 누구의 이력서임을 첫줄 상단에 표시하는 것이 흔히 통용되는 서식이다. 그 밑에 현주소나 연락처,전화번 호,기타 인적사항을 적는다. 나이(Date of Birth)는 월,일,년도 순으로 기재한 다. 본적과 현주소를 기재할 때는 '번지,통.반,구(면),시(도)'순으로 쓰고 마지 막에 우편번호를 적는다. 가족관계는 'The second son of Dong-Suk Hong'식으로 게재한다.

PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVE

이 부분은 수험생의 직업목표를 밝히는 중요한 부분으로 지원자의 취업직종,분야 혹은 부서를 열거식으로 나열해도 좋다. 우리나라에서는 이력서를 쓸 때 "이상 위의 내용은 사실이며..."하는 문구를 쓰게 되는데 외국기업의 경우는 이러한 문구,신청인의 서명,날인따위는 필요하지 않다.
추천서 및 기타 서류는 기업이 요철할 때 제공하면 되므로 "References available upon request"(추천서,기타 참조인 및 서류는 귀사 요청시 제출하겠습 니다)라고 적으면 된다.

영문자기소개서의 작성 목적은 영문이력서와 기타 제출서류에서 제공하지 못한 지원자의 장점, 단점, 희망, 태도, 사상, 성장배경, 교육배경, 인간관계, 의식구조, 직업관, 사회관, 종교관, 취미, 조직사회에 대한 지원자의  견해 등에 관하여 구체적으로 소개하는 데  있다. 그러나 영문자기 소개서를 작성할 때 무엇보다도 중요한것은 지원회사의 채용 취지와  인원선발에 관계 있는 진술이나 지원자의 능력,자질,학식,포부,지원의 동기 등이 명확하게 직접 혹은 간접적으로 잘 기술되어야 한다.

 영문자기소개서 작성시에  일반적으로 몇가지 유의해야  할 점이 있다.
첫째로 지원자 자신을 스스로 면밀히 분석해 보아야  한다.
  예를들면,What kind person are you  ? What can you do? What is your strongest skill,second strongest skill,third,fourth...?  What experience have you had?  What  personal attitudes do you have? 등에 관해서 스스로 우선 묻고 그에 해당하는 진술을 영문으로 작성해보도록 한다.

둘째로 지원자는 지원 회사나 기관에 대하여 면밀히 분석해야 한다. 회사나 기관 혹은 타인의 욕구에 합당한 service를 제공할 수 있는 능력을 보여줘야 한다.
  따라서 회사가 어떤 일과 무슨 계획을 가지고 있으며, 그  규모, 인적구성, 보수, 승진제도 등은 어떠한지  다양하게 파악 해야한다. 지원회사의  채용인원, 분야, 근무지,근무조건,보수 등을 정확히  파악하여,지원자의 자격과 합당한 분야가 있는지 꼭 확인한 후  작성하여야 한다. 지원자는 무조건 대기업이니까, 해외근무 직장이니까,외국인 회사니까 하는 식으로 지원해서는 안된다.

셋째로 지원직장의 요구사항에  알맞는 바른 직업관,직장과 일에 대한 적응력, 대학교육의 기여도와  잠재력,과거 경험 등을 심도  있게 진술할수 있어야 한다. 절대로 의문시되는 인적 사항의  기술은 피하는 것이 좋다. 일할 수 있는 능력을 보여주는 것이 영문자기소개서에서 가장 중요한 과제이다.

마지막으로 쉽고 명확한 영어 문장을 사용하고 전체적인 문맥이 물흐르듯  자연스럽게 이어지도록 쓰면  된다. 그리고 반드시 타자나 컴퓨터를 이용하여  보기좋게 작성하도록 한다.

저의 가족을 소개하자면 아버지는 건축가이시며 성격은 매우 엄격하시고 인자하신 분이시며, 항상 저희 생각뿐이십니다.

To tell of my family members, my dad is an architect and a very strict but generous person, and he always cares for us.

어머니는 집안일을 하시면서 가끔씩 아버지 일을 도와드리기도 합니다. 어머니 또한 엄격하시고 꼼꼼하시면서 항상 저희를 생각하십니다.

My mom is a typical housewife, but she sometimes helps dad at work. She also is a strict and deliberate person, and always cares for us.

그리고 제 동생은 지금 고2로써 열심히 배우고 있습니다.

And my younger brother is a junior at highschool, still eagerly learning.

성격은 매우 활발하고 낙천적이며 저를 잘 따르는 착한 동생입니다.

He has an active, optimistic personality, and is a nice brother who follows me well.


저의 아버지는 초등학교만 나오셨지만 지금은 사장자리까지 올라가셨습니다.

My is the president of a company, though he is a man with an elementary education

어머니는 항상 친절하시고 저에게 절약하는 법을 가르치셨습니다.

My mother was affectionate and taught me how to practice economy.

어머니는 무엇이든 노력하면 얻을 수 있다는 자신감을 저에게 심어주셨습니다

She made me gain confidence in myself that I could achieve my purpose if I tried hard.


아버지는 사업을 하시고, 어머니와 언니는 직장인이시며, 동생은 대학생입니다.

My father is running his own business. Mother and sister work for a company, and my younger sister is a college student.


가족 관계는 부모님과 1남 2녀 중 막내입니다. 막내로써 어릴 때는 어리광이 있었지만 고등학교를 졸업한 후 많이 나아졌고 군대를 갔다 온 지금은 어리광이 사라졌습니다.

I am the youngest of one brother and two sisters. When I was a little boy, I behaved like a spoilt child because I was the youngest child, but it was getting better in high school and I didn't do like that anymore after the military service.


저희는 할머님과 부모님이 계시고 저는 2남중에 장남입니다. 장남이어서 그런지 어려서부터 부모님의 기대를 많이 받고 자랐지만 기대에 부응한 적은 별로 없었던 것 같습니다.

There are 5 members in my family; grand-mother, parents, one younger brother and myself. Since I was the first kid in my family, so even when I was young, my parents expect many things from me, but I haven't met their expectations.
