California, United States, again this time they have again come out at the top of the lists of all the states for creating new laws.

Some of the new laws include regulating smoking, no smoking anywhere, texting, you cannot text anyone, anytime, never, no trans fats, time to lose weight everybody.

That's right. In fact, Jake, here we are in 2010 a lot more people these days are depending on their GPS system to get from place to place.

However there are still lots of people who wanna use their maps, printed paper maps.

These maps of course enable them to stop, see where they are versus where they need to be and make their adjustment in destinations.

They can also get around by asking people on the street. So being lost turns into a very social situation. If you're single, it's great. Hey, baby, where am I going?

1. Obama Statement On Plane Terror Plot

The flight made an emergency landing in Detroit. The man was turned over to the FBI. But president Obama has told officials to boost airline security.

landing 착륙  (= make a landing)
(= increase, make stronger)

This word is used in many cases, if you go to a restaurant, perhaps to a theater sometimes children are too small to reach the table or to see well, so they might have a booster seat.

John's paraphrasing time (존의 바꾸어 말하기 시간)

There was indeed emergency incident on an airplane. This caused the airplane to quickly make an emergency landing in Detroit, Michigan in the United States.

Well, on board the airplane there was a man accused of some making a terrorist threat and he was immediately turned over to the FBI, he was given to the FBI.

At the same time the president of United States Obama had said, "Come on, airline security! It's time to make security stronger, improve and boost to develop that airline security. We need to prevent terrorism."

2. Self-parking Technology

Ford has a, a kind of self-parking car. "Yeah, this is one of those straight-out-of-science-fiction kind of ideas. What Ford has done is, using a sonar-based system, it can actually find you a spot."

John's paraphrasing time (존의 바꾸어 말하기 시간)

The future is here, high technology. We move to the world of automobiles. Here's an idea that we find probably these days maybe only in movies.

Bruce Willis or Arnold Schwarzenegger or James Bond might have one of these types of cars. They do it all. They do it themselves including parking.

In fact there's a car now available to use system that has a sonar type device recognized as space-by-sound.

This type of car will enable to park by itself. You can just relax, take it easy.

Oh, our good buddy Hong Kil-Dong, he's such an entertainer. He's a performer extraordinaire.

Recently he put together a one-man band. He plays all the instruments at one time by himself. He was asked to make an appearance on a show, on a TV show.

Of course he was expecting a very high appearance fee. Well, he was surprised there. They only gave him 500 won.

Well, now, Jake, I've been told that the idea of hot dog on a bun has been ascribed to the wife of a German guy named Antonoine Feuchtwanger, who sold hot dogs in 1880, because his customers kept taking the white gloves handed to them for eating without burning their hands.

* John's recap (recapitulation : 요점의 되풀이)

You know, Jake. I'm not really a big fan of very sugary and very sweet drinks.

But sometimes I can think of hot day on summer when I'm really, really thirsty, I might grab a soda pop and just wham! Bottoms up! Drink it right down trying to cool myself off.

But a better idea. Take that soda pop, put it in the freezer. It'll turn into a Popsicle. Then you can just kind of eat it slowly, cool you down.

And of course if you need that quick-fix of energy, perhaps you've just been exercising you're tired, go ahead, help yourself to a candy bar. That will give you quick shot of energy.

And of course come lunch time, you can rely just on a candy bar. You might wanna get a sandwich, maybe some French fries, soda pop to go along.

You can save a little bit of money, though, if you order yourself of value meal.

part time job 아르바이트

In the United States part time work is undergoing a quite transformation, gaining more polished image in the process.

It's becoming the province of professionals as more parents, retirees and young people seek more flexible schedules.

Peeping Tom

Lady Godiva, isn't that a Beatles song? Well, according to the legend Lady Godiva rode naked through the streets to gain a remission of the oppressive taxation imposed by her husband on his tenants.

So the name "Peeping Tom" originates from the story in which a man named Tom had watched her ride and struck blind.

Long time ago our good friend Hong Kil-Dong worked as a part-time secret agent. He worked for Uncle Sam

That's right. Traveling around the world, working for Interpol in fact and his duty was to solve crimes.

Once he came upon a John Doe that had to be identified. Well, they couldn't find identification.

So they finally took pictures of Adam's apple, sent it on line back to the all hospitals cross the states.

And they finally identified him. Well, it was his Achilles heel, that he was not able to identify a lot of these John Does.

He ended up giving up that job and he came back. He got a job as an average Joe just hanging out, working in the markets here.

"But those were good days" he says. He remembers well.
